Saturday at 1 PM marked the culmination of several years of vision and planning by Fire Chief Don Lessin and the firefighters of the East Granby Fire Department. At a well-attended “wetting down” and dedication ceremony at the East Granby fire hall, they officially put into service their new Tanker #4. Bringing words of greeting were First Selectman, Jim Hayden, of East Granby and the sales representative from 4 Guys, the company who built the fire truck on a Kenworth T-800 frame. Because of the good relationship between the department and the Copper Hill United Methodist Church created by the annual dinner given for the department by the church, Chief Lessin invited Pastor Kelvin Jones of Copper Hill UMC to give the prayer of dedication at the event.
An excellent article about the new truck by Scot Allyn appeared in The Granby News.
I assembled a small gallery of photos using just my phone. Thanks to Christian Robison, a member of the department, for helping with it. Christian has some great pictures of the truck and the big flag on his Facebook page.
Here are the pictures I gathered.
