COVID-19 Faith-in-Action Plan Implemented
In response to the developing situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, and in order to do our part to slow the spread of the virus, Copper Hill Church moved its worship service online today, Mar. 15, 2020. With Jonathan Griffin providing the leadership, coordination and guidance for using the ZOOM platform commonly used by businesses, and with Cory Schantz at the key board and mouse, managing multiple screens and who knows how many windows, together we entered a new era.
Plan Development
Pastor Kelvin and JoAnne, Jonathan, Judy Holcomb and Robert Loomis had a conference call on Thursday, Mar. 12 to discuss the evolving situation. We developed our church’s COVID-19 Faith-in Action Plan. Then after a little online coordination with trustees, we set it in motion. We decided together that our vision for Copper Hill’s version of Virtual Church would be for it to be different from regular church. It would strive to be less formal and more interactive. The fact that Pastor Kelvin and JoAnne minister as a husband and wife team works perfectly for this type of setting. But things had to come together very quickly. One practice meeting was held on Saturday evening, March 14.
A Work in Progress
We are certainly learning as we go. So we appreciate any suggestions. We already have a list of improvements for next week. In addition, we became aware that we have only begun to touch the surface of the capabilities of the software that we used. Next week, we already have plans to include an additional presenting person as Robert Loomis is preparing one of his highly appreciated “History Moments.” This work is complex and multifaceted. It has the capability to touch many more lives than we typically do on a given Sunday. We likely have already done that today. Please keep the Virtual Church ministry in your prayers that God may use our efforts to advance God’s kingdom.
