Watch Virtual Service
New strides
Today we held our second virtual service. In keeping with our goal to be interactive, we included an additional speaker. Lay leader Robert Loomis debuted the first Virtual History Moment, talking about John Wesley’s concern for people through the classes and bands that he established to keep in touch with everyone. Today we are keeping in touch by phone and online during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Additional steps
Last week we accomplished our goal of holding our first virtual service by bringing together a team of four people at the parsonage. Jonathan and JoAnne were both concerned that we needed to learn to accomplish the same task without physically meeting together to enhance distancing. Pastor Kelvin was concerned that if one person of the four became ill (heaven forbid) the service would not continue. It needed to have more “survivability” as he put it. So this second week, we decided to all work remotely. Pastor Kelvin and JoAnne would still be at their living room table, but Cory would manage keyboards and screens from his home “cockpit, ” and Jonathan would coordinate with Cory and the Jones’ without leaving home. Robert Loomis would contribute from his home as well. This added some wrinkles and caused a few hitches but we accomplished the goal. Now we are set up so that either Jonathan or Cory could work the technical part and different people could help with input.
