Watch CHUMC Easter
Easter was definitely different this year. It will be an Easter to remember. But we had some familiar things too. We dressed up like usual. Pastor wore his purple shirt and white jacket. We sang “Up From the Grave He Arose.” Pastor’s message was a message of hope reminding us that because Jesus has risen, he is the light in our darkest times; because he is alive, he is our companion in life’s shadows; and because of his resurrection, we have his promise that we as his disciples also have eternal life. So we have joy this Easter despite the fact that our circumstances are different than our usual Easter.
And about the Easter eggs — instead of the usual Easter egg hunt, our children displayed their decorated Easter eggs via Zoom for all to see. Morgan and Malia Gabbidon painted these eggs and described them and displayed them as part of our virtual children’s moment. (They made these dishes too..) Later, during the virtual handshake, we saw lots of different egg creations.
Watch Bishop Bickerton
I’m also happy to announce that our Bishop and the staff at New York Annual Conference Headquarters also recorded an Easter service for all of us to see. If you have been having a difficult time with this year’s Easter being so different, Bishop Bickerton’s message will be a great encouragement to you. Just click the link above. You will have a choice of watching the entire service or just listening to our Bishop’s Easter message.
