Wholesome habits help us
There is no doubt that the corona virus has disturbed our rhythms of life. In today’s message, Pastor Kelvin points out that the unexpected clearing out of our schedules may have gifted us with an opportunity as well, an opportunity to affirm and even establish healthy life habits. He points out that even though Jesus’ life could have been relatively unstructured, he intentionally maintained spiritual disciplines of Sabbath observance and spending time alone with God. We also have new opportunities to prioritize life rhythms for time with God, physical fitness and for maintaining good connections to those we love.
Our second virtual communion
Using the permission and in accordance with the guidelines given by Bishop Bickerton, Pastor Kelvin led the congregation in their second virtual communion. Bishop Bickerton instructed pastors to be careful to maintain four key element in the online communion liturgy; prayers of confession, acknowledgement of God’s presence, affirmation of God’s gifts to us through Jesus and the evoking of the presence of the Holy Spirit. All of these are included in the service as Pastor Kelvin leads. In addition, Pastor Kelvin reminds us again that just as Jesus was not hindered in healing at a distance when he was here on earth, so the Holy Spirit is not hindered in blessing the elements being used to remember Jesus in homes as people worship in virtual community with the congregation.
