Pastoral term extended
As most of you were aware, Pastor Kelvin and his wife JoAnne had planned to fully retire at the end of the church year on 30 June, 2021. However, the United Methodist denomination currently has a shortage of pastors and Pastor Kelvin and JoAnne were having difficultly locating an affordable home in the post-pandemic real estate market. So there has been an unexpected change of plans. With the wholehearted blessing of the local Staff Parish Committee led by Jonathan Griffin and the concurrence of both our District Superintendent, Rev. Alpher Sylvester, and our Bishop, Rev. Thomas Bickerton, the Annual Conference has appointed Rev. Jones as pastor for another year at Copper Hill Church.
Pastor Jones says, “While it would have been nice to retire, I am also happy for the extension of my ministry here, and I believe God has things for us to accomplish together in the coming year. I am looking forward to us being fruitful together for God’s kingdom in the year to come. JoAnne and I appreciate all the support we are receiving. Your help and support are essential to accomplish the work that God has planned for us to do together.”
We hope to see you at Chambers.
Our current summer vacation plans do call for a stop at Chambers.
I am so happy that Pastor Kelvin and JoAnne will be at Copper Hill Church.
Thank you Mary
