God’s love teaches us to love.
This week Pastor Kelvin helped us to understand how the truth that “God is love” (1 John 4:8,16) is simply the first step in a wonderful sequence. God demonstrated what his love in like by sending his Son, Jesus, to die for us ( 1 John 4:10). Then the progression that God desires is completed, that is, achieves its goals, when we act in practical loving ways towards others (1 John 4:16,17). Pastor Kelvin got our thinking started with some ways to show practical love. One way is to show focused attention to others in daily life. Another is to watch our words so that we speak respectfully, even of those with whom we disagree. He also suggested that we reach out to others with a triple touch.
- Prayer Touch – pray for someone
- Paper Touch – send them a card or note in the mail; or use an online communication
- Personal Touch – reach out in person via phone or by getting together.
