Series on Heaven’s Joys continues
When we think of inheritance, our mind quickly jumps to money or real estate or antiques. But to understand the Bible promises of a heavenly inheritance, we need to think on a different level. This week Pastor Kelvin guided us in meditating on the eternal rewards that God has in store for those who follow Jesus. Our text was in 1 Peter chapter one where the apostle assures us, “In [God’s] great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you” (1 Peter 1:3, 4). We explored some of the aspects of this inheritance. Its keynote is eternal life. Another great blessing is the promise of togetherness with Jesus and with those of like faith who have gone before and come after. It includes a place God has prepared. And while, the basic entrance is by grace through the work of Jesus, we will receive varying rewards there based upon our deeds.
