Bishop Bickerton gives all pastors one weekend off and supplies online service
This weekend (June 14) was supposed to be annual conference weekend. All the UMC pastors in our area would have been at Hofstra University for the annual meeting time of fellowship, church business, information and inspiration. But this year is different. Like so many things, annual conference has been postponed by COVID-19. But pastors have been working hardier than ever to organize for online ministry, learn new programs, and create content in new venues. Bishop Bickerton decided that pastors deserved to take the weekend off anyway and asked his staff to provide the service content to relieve the pastor’s for one weekend. That is why the service above features district figures rather than Pastor Kelvin and JoAnne Jones. They will return next week, God willing. On the recording above Bishop Thomas Bickerton brings greetings. Then the excellent morning message speaker is conference staff member Rev. David Gilmore who is leaving this summer to become district superintendent in the Kansas City Missouri area.
