God wants to refresh our souls
Today Pastor Kelvin graphically described how much we need renewal from God.
“Like trash slowly accumulating, worldliness grows on us, and all the easier since our culture pays no heed to the moral trash it produces. Like the waves of the shore washing up the flotsam of humanity’s refuse, the days of our lives cast up on the shores of our soul debris from the hurting words we have spoken, the crude and violent scenes we have watched, the greedy imaginations of our minds and the wrong choices we wish we could take back. We desperately need a time of refreshment when we can somehow clean our own beach of its accumulation of trash and start pristine again.”
The Good News is found in the phrase that the Apostle Peter uses in the text for the morning. God desires to send us “times of refreshing” (Acts 3:20) if we will “repent and turn to God” (Acts 3:19). Pastor Kelvin explains how we can do this and receive the renewal that we so desperately need.
It is the Holy Spirit, the Mighty Wind of Pentecost, who brings us spiritual refreshment. JoAnne connects the dots in children’s moment by using the air current of a hair dryer to illustrate relying on God’s power to help us through our challenges.
