Each year around New Year’s JoAnne and I encourage each one to make a personal plan for interacting with your Bible in the coming year. It should be tailored to your preferences and time constraints and, of course, use your favorite Bible version a lot. As Pastor Eric Paashaus put it, “The best Bible version is the one you will read.” A robust plan has several components. The mainstay of every plan is daily Bible reading. Some might choose to listen to the Bible being read as they drive. Or perhaps they are using an app like You Version while they are doing a routine task. Other ideas to enrich and amplify might include group Bible study, personal Bible memorization, devotional books, and online devotions or study series. Meditating on a verse or journaling about what God is teaching you can also be helpful. Don’t worry about doing it “right.” Just get started and experiment. To help you, JoAnne has prepared two resources. One is the above list of suggested chapters for newer Bible readers. The other is the check-off list below for those who want to keep track of where they are reading so they can mark their progress.
Thank you for these resources.. hope to get my grandkids to start reading
