Friend Sunday Outdoor Coffee Hour a delight
Watch the service
Hope Happens Here was the theme for the Friend Sunday service at Copper Hill Church and the title for Pastor Kelvin’s message as well. His text pointed out that God by his very nature is our source of hope.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13 NIV
From a practical standpoint, Pastor Kelvin reminded us, we learn to be hopeful as we study the Word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to apply it to our hearts. Paul wrote,
Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.
Romans 15:4 NIV
Lastly, Rev. Jones pointed out that the local church plays a crucial role in our being hopeful as well. Where do we learn about the Bible? Where do we take time to be in prayer and worship? What group of people encourages us to get to know the God of Hope better? The answer in one form or another is “church.” In a very practical way, the local lighthouse of faith, physically, organizationally, and as a gathered group of Christians is crucial to helping us find hope. Pastor Kelvin concluded that we should therefore treasure our church, encourage it and build it up. By God’s grace, Hope Happens Here!
